Since June 2025, the sailing vessel PERSEVERANCE has been equipped with an Oceano Vox unit, as part of a partnership with Ifremer. This innovative device, developed jointly by Ifremer and the Oceano Vox startup, aims to harness the potential of pleasure yachts and racing boats for collecting scientific data in the open sea.
The collected data is valuable for better understanding ocean currents and their evolution in the face of climate change. Transmitted by satellite via the Kinéis network, this data enriches Ifremer’s scientific databases, without the need for extensive oceanographic missions. This program is part of a citizen science approach, allowing recreational sailors to actively contribute to research while navigating, and to benefit from scientific outreach activities to better understand the interest and impact of their measurements. Thanks to this collaboration, PERSEVERANCE becomes a mobile player in global ocean observation.
